Frequently asked questions

Q: How much does the third nail retrofit cost?

A: Price is determined by multiple factors such as square footage of the home, roof geometry and access complexity. Our retrofits include a third-party inspection. For older homes (typically built in the 1960s or earlier) that may require installing new clips, we offer free evaluations so you can compare the project cost with your potential insurance savings.

Q: Are you licensed and insured?

A: Yes. We are fully licensed and insured in Florida. A Certified Building Contractor (CBC) or Certified General Contractor (CGC) license is required to perform this type of structural work. Many handymen and roofers are not licensed for this unless they also hold a CBC or CGC license.

Q: How much will I save with a third nail retrofit?

A: Insurance savings vary based on your location and policy. In many cases, the retrofit pays for itself within the first year or two, and you’ll continue saving annually after that. For an exact estimate, ask your insurance agent what your premium would be with (b) clips on page 2, section 4 of the wind mitigation form—they can run the numbers for your policy.

Q: Will insulation or ductwork in my attic be a problem?

Unfortunately, we don't currently offer [specific service inquiry]. However, we do offer [alternative service] which might be helpful.

Q: What happens after the work is complete?

A: Once we complete your roof-to-wall connection upgrade, a follow-up inspection is required to document the improvements on a wind mitigation form with photos. This documentation is what your insurance company uses to apply your discounts. For your convenience, we include a third-party inspection in your quote, typically scheduled the same day we finish the work. Our goal is to make the process smooth and ensure you start receiving those insurance savings as quickly as possible.

Q: Can I use my own inspector?

A: Absolutely. If you have your own qualified inspector, just let us know before scheduling and we’ll adjust your price by $100 to reflect that.

Q: Another company told me this work must be done through the soffit or roof. Is that true?

A: Not necessarily. We’ve perfected an attic-access method that allows us to complete most projects without cutting into your roof deck or soffits. This approach keeps costs lower, avoids altering your home’s exterior, and is possible because of our specialized training and experienced technicians.
